Terms and Conditions - Bits&Bridles
Article 1 – Definitions
In these general terms and conditions, the following definitions apply:
- Bits&Bridles: the entrepreneur, located in Gersloot;
- Customer: any natural or legal person who enters into an agreement with Bits&Bridles;
- Consumer: a customer who is not acting in the exercise of a profession or business;
- Business customer: the natural or legal person acting in the exercise of a profession or business;
- Agreement: any agreement between Bits&Bridles and the customer;
- Products: all items offered via the webshop;
- Services: all forms of advice, including bit and bridle fitting;
- Cooling-off period: the period within which the consumer can exercise their right of withdrawal.

Article 3 – Applicability
- These general terms and conditions apply to every offer made by Bits&Bridles and to every agreement concluded.
- Deviations from these terms and conditions are only valid if explicitly agreed upon in writing.
Article 4 – The offer
- All offers are without obligation.
- Obvious errors, mistakes or stock discrepancies do not bind Bits&Bridles.
- No rights can be derived from promotions and offers for future purchases.
Article 5 – The agreement
- The agreement is concluded the moment the customer places an order and this order has been confirmed by Bits&Bridles.
- Bits&Bridles reserves the right to refuse orders or to impose additional conditions.
Article 6 – Prices and payment
- All prices include VAT and exclude shipping costs.
- Payment is made via Mollie, including iDEAL, Bancontact, Klarna and PayPal.
- When using Klarna, the customer remains responsible at all times for timely payment to Klarna, regardless of any returns or disputes.
Article 7 – Delivery
- Orders are usually shipped within 2 to 5 working days.
- The stated delivery times are indicative and do not entitle the customer to compensation.
- If a customer provides an incorrect address, this is entirely at the customer's expense and risk.
- If a package is not collected or is refused, all resulting costs will be charged to the customer.
- The risk of damage or loss of products passes to the customer at the moment of delivery.
Article 8 – Right of withdrawal and return
- Consumers have a cooling-off period of 14 days after receipt of the product.
- Returns must be registered with Bits&Bridles in advance.
- The product must be in the following condition upon return:
a. unused (trying on is permitted);
b. clean and free of hair, dirt and odors;
c. complete;
d. provided with original labels and tags;
e. returned in its original packaging. - Products that do not meet the above conditions will not be accepted.
- Returns are entirely at the risk of the customer.
- Returns sent to a parcel point instead of the specified return address will not be collected and will automatically be returned to the sender.
- Return costs are for the account of the customer.
- In the case of an approved return, only the purchase amount of the product will be refunded, excluding shipping costs.
- Refunds will only be made after the returned product has been received and checked by Bits&Bridles, and will be made via the same payment method.
Article 9 – Exclusion of right of withdrawal
- The right of withdrawal is excluded for:
a. used bits;
b. outlet items. - Bits can only be returned if they are unused and have not been in a horse's mouth.
- Outlet items cannot be returned. Exchanges within the outlet collection are possible within 14 days of receipt.
- Exchanges will only be processed after receipt and inspection of the original product.
Article 10 – Warranty
- All products come with a 3-month warranty, exclusively for manufacturing and material defects.
- The warranty expires if:
a. the product has been modified or processed;
b. the product has been repaired by third parties;
c. there is improper use. - The warranty does not cover, among other things:
a. normal wear and tear;
b. dehydration of leather;
c. stretching of leather;
d. loss of rhinestones;
e. damage due to external influences such as horse teeth, rubbing or pulling. - If applicable, extra rhinestones will be included.
- In case of loose or missing rhinestones, the customer can contact us; if possible, these will be supplied free of charge.
- Bits&Bridles determines the method of handling in all cases, including repair, replacement or another suitable solution.
Article 11 – Bit and bridle fitting
- Bits&Bridles offers advice on bits and bridles.
- This advice is based on knowledge and experience and should be considered a snapshot.
- No guarantee is given for the result or the duration of the effect of a fitting.
- The behavior of the horse and the ultimate functioning of products depend on multiple factors and remain the responsibility of the customer at all times.
Article 12 – Liability
- Bits&Bridles is not liable for damage resulting from:
a. improper use of products;
b. incorrect application of advice;
c. reactions of the horse to the use of products. - The liability of Bits&Bridles is in all cases limited to the amount of the relevant product.
Article 13 – Complaints
- Complaints must be reported within a reasonable period after discovery.
- Damage or errors upon delivery must be reported within 48 hours of receipt.
- Bits&Bridles aims to handle complaints within 14 days.
Article 14 – Force Majeure
- Bits&Bridles is not liable for delays or non-fulfillment of obligations due to force majeure.
- Force majeure is understood to mean all external causes over which Bits&Bridles has no control, including disruptions, transport problems and illness.
Article 15 – Applicable law
- Dutch law applies to all agreements.
- Disputes will be submitted to the competent court in the Netherlands.
